This book will possibly be the best book I have read this month! I have heard so much about Susan Ee's books but I never decided to pick it up until I received the copy from Netgalley.

'Angelfall' was such a delightful read, and I enjoyed every single word in it!
The best way I can describe this book is that it was like eating a cake and an ice cream, at the same time because it had nice and fluffy parts like a cake but it also had frosty parts that could actually frozen your brain, like ice cream does sometimes.

This book is about one girl named Penryn, who is trying to survive with her family after the apocalypse. The world is really cruel and dark, and she's trying to keep everyone safe, including her. But one day, an angel flies away with her younger sister, and she does the only thing possible: negotiate with another angel to get her back.

And as I said, the world is really dark and cruel, since it has suffer with tsunamis and fires because of the angels and besides that, everyone is trying to survive so it's basically every man for himself.
But this didn't stop me from loving the book! Susan Ee wrote a frightening version of the Earth, but it also wrote the most fantastic characters and the most fantastic story line, so that you couldn't literally take your eyes off this book!

Penryn was stupendous!! She was such a strong and loving character! And I love her dark humor, that made me laugh so many times.
Seeing the world in her eyes was also something I really enjoyed, because her narration it was serious sometimes but it was also funny in other occasions.

Raffe is completely perfect, at least for me. I'm madly in love with him!
He was this loving warrior always ready to save Penryn when she needed it, but he was also this cool and distant man who was always trying to keep her away from him. And I found that really interesting, because he has lived a lot, and yet he doesn't try to find love, to stop his loneliness.

And their dialogues were this perfect mix of sarcasm, humor and cuteness and I love it! There were so many good dialogues, but probably my favorites are the following:
“Here, I’ll show you how to use it. Let me see your foot.”
“That’s a pretty intimate demand in the angel world. It usually takes dinner, some wine, and sparkling conversation for me to give up my feet.”
“Why were the other angels attacking you?"
"It's impolite to ask the victim of violence what they did to be attacked.”
'Angelfall' took me by surprise a lot of times, and that is something difficult because I've read a lot of YA fantasy books and I love those genres, but usually I can guess what will happen next... not with this book.
The 'scorpion things' were this big surprise for me. I didn't saw it coming at all and I'm actually really interested in reading what will happen next. And I'm also really interested in Penryn's sister, Paige. What will happen with her?

The end was another big 'wow'! It was really sad and tragic but that just made me want to read 'World After' immediately after I finished this first book!

So obviously, I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads, and I was so impressed and in love with it, that a few days later I decided not to only buy the physical copy of 'Angelfall' but also the physical copy of 'World After', and I'm so excited to get them!

I definitely recommend this book!! It was so gloriously good and I can't stop thinking about it even though I have read it in the beginning of the month!
This is definitely the type of book that will make readers both laugh and smile.

This was my completely honest opinion and I hope you liked it!
Bye, Ana.
